Develop a Mentoring Network

Your advisor is not the only person who should be mentoring you. Look in your department and beyond for those who can help support you in your academic and professional goals.

Look at your Disciplinary Resources

Many departments and colleges have mentorship resources and can help you reach out to mentors in your field. Discuss your career path with your degree program’s Director of Graduate Studies.

Distinguished Mentor Award

The Graduate School established the Distinguished Mentor Award in 2006 to honor and encourage the considerable efforts and accomplishments of faculty who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the mentorship of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
